Africa's Fashion Industry is taking part in the conversation, instead of merely being the fleeting topic - Industrie Africa is a wonderfully curated digital showroom, for some of Africa's brightest fashion talents. Its is also the first of its kind. The driving forces behind the project are Nisha Kanabar - a native Tanzanian and New Yorker Georgia Bobley.
Both Kanabar and Bobley have experience in the fashion business. Kanabar worked for Vogue India and style.com (Arabia) while Bobley helped to launch PopSugar in the Middle East.
The continent's fashion scene is more than bold prints and flamboyant headgear. It is rich and it is divers. Even the big names of the industry and the odd fashion-forward roaming the streets during fashion week have allowed for glimpses to that fact. Now native designers have the opportunity to take it beyond that glimpse to a full blown stare!
"Industrie Africa the continent’s first digital showroom. As the definitive guide to industry talent and designer discovery, the platform provides media, buyers, customers and other insiders access to a comprehensive profile of Africa’s contemporary fashion landscape. Industrie Africa empowers a network of regional talent to become more influential players in the global narrative, positioning the continent as a leading, connected fashion frontier."
